Details
An anarkali in Maheshwari cotton-silk, handwoven on the banks of the Narmada in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh. The cloth is 90 GSM with a cotton weft and a silk warp, so it holds a flare without weighing on the shoulders, and it carries the reversible bugdi border that Maheshwar is known for. The body is cut with a fitted yoke and a 4 m sweep, lined at the bodice in cotton mul. Azo-free reactive dyes, with a faint tint in the first rinse and nothing after. Cotton-silk relaxes rather than shrinks, so allow up to 2 percent on the first wash. It is a festive piece meant to be worn many times, not once.
