Handloom Cotton Dupatta

Details

A plain-weave cotton dupatta, 2.5 m long, woven on pit looms in Bhuj, Kachchh, at 90 GSM. Light enough to drape in two folds without bulk at the shoulder, dense enough that it does not turn transparent in daylight. Dyed in small vats with natural indigo, madder root, myrobalan and pomegranate rind. Natural dye behaves honestly, so each of these gives up a little colour in the first two washes and then settles a half-shade softer than it arrived. The fringe is hand-knotted at both ends, not machine-serged, so it can be re-knotted if it frays.
