Details
A two-piece set in Chanderi silk-cotton, woven on handlooms in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh. The warp is mulberry silk and the weft is fine cotton, which is what gives Chanderi its glassy sheen at only 80 GSM. The kurta is lined at the bodice in cotton mul so it is never sheer. Dyed with azo-free reactive dyes in soft mineral shades. Expect a faint tint in the first rinse and nothing after that. The palazzo is cut wide with a flat front and an elastic back, so it sits without digging. Chanderi is a fine cloth and it relaxes rather than shrinks, so we allow 2 percent and cut for it.
