Activated bamboo charcoal in a breathable cotton bag. Put it in a fridge, a shoe rack, a wardrobe, a car, a bathroom, or a cupboard that has been shut through monsoon. It pulls odour and excess damp out of the air passively, with no power, no spray, no refill and no smell of its own. There is nothing else in it, and that is why it costs what it costs and lasts as long as it does.

• No fragrance, no gel, no plastic pod, no battery, no dye. Just charcoal in undyed cotton, with a cotton loop to hang it
• Fully passive, so it costs nothing to run and never sprays anything into the air
• It regenerates. Put the bag in direct sun for three to four hours once a month and the heat drives out what it has absorbed
• Do that and one bag lasts about two years
• At the end, cut the bag open and dig the charcoal into a plant pot or a compost pit, where it holds water and improves soil structure. The cotton bag composts too, so nothing here becomes waste
