A 5 mm mat pressed from tapped natural rubber with a polyurethane top surface. Natural rubber is dense, so at 5 mm this mat weighs 2.4 kg and does not creep across the floor in a standing sequence. PVC mats of the same thickness weigh half as much and slide, which is the trade most mats make quietly. The top layer takes grip from moisture rather than losing it, so it holds better ten minutes into a session than at the start. There is no foam core, no filler and no bonded second layer to peel apart at the edge, which is where cheap mats fail first. It smells of rubber for about a week. Unroll it in a shaded, airy place and the smell goes. It will not go if you leave it in the sun, which also degrades the rubber, so do not.
