A trekking pack in 18 oz waxed cotton duck over a removable aluminium stay. The stay is a single 6061 alloy bar that you bend once, cold, to the curve of your own spine. Moulded plastic framesheets fit an average back and no particular one. This does the opposite. The hip belt carries the load and it is bolted to the frame with four stainless screws, not sewn into the bag. So it can be swapped for a different size, replaced when the foam packs down, or taken off entirely for a light carry. Same for the shoulder harness. Load lifters run to a webbing ladder, so the attachment height adjusts with your torso length rather than being fixed at the factory. The 20 L carries a day walk, the 30 L a weekend, the 40 L three or four days when you pack carefully. All three run the same harness.
