Details
A low-top sneaker cut from 1.4 mm full-grain vegetable-tanned cowhide. Full-grain is the outer layer of the hide with its grain left intact. It is not the same as leather sold as genuine leather, which is usually a split lower layer with a printed finish sprayed on top. The grain layer is where the fibre is densest, so it takes creases without cracking and gets better with wear. The sole is Blake-stitched to the upper, so the whole shoe holds together on thread rather than adhesive. Any competent cobbler can cut the stitch, lift the worn sole and put a new one on. Expect the vamp to crease across the flex point in the first month and the colour to deepen unevenly where your hands and the weather reach it. That is the leather working, not a defect.
