Details
A belt cut as a single strip from the back of a vegetable-tanned hide, 4 mm thick and 35 mm wide. Most belts on the shelf are two thin splits glued face to face with a grain print on top. They crack along the fold line within two years, because the glue line is the weak point. This one has no glue line, because it has no second layer. The buckle is solid brass, not plated zinc, and it is held by two screws through the keeper rather than being stitched shut. Unscrew it and put on a different buckle, or replace the buckle after a decade without replacing the belt. Brass will dull to a warm brown, which polishing takes straight back off. The strap darkens where it passes the loops.
