Details
A BLDC ceiling fan draws about 28 W at full speed against 75 W for an ordinary induction fan, delivering the same air. Run eight hours a day, that is close to Rs 90 a month saved, so the fan pays back its extra cost inside two summers. It is also quieter, 32 dB(A) at one metre at top speed, because a brushless motor has no slip and no humming laminate. The part that fails on a BLDC fan is the driver module, not the motor, so here the driver sits in the canopy and unclips without taking the fan down.
